Colonel Tornado-7.

               Readers may be aware that Pavadai Ganesan, a civil Engineer by profession was in P W D of Tamilnadu Govt as Junior Engineer in 1961 under Hon Chief Minister K.Kamaraj.Ganesan a very active young sportsman did not like life in PWD.Corruption was not only in public but also in Govt officials and rules were framed to entertain corruption.This is "Fence is eating the products " (வேலியே  பயிரை மேயும் விந்தையான சூழ்நிலை ). Ganesan threw his salary into the flowing river "Vettar " and resigned his job.The Nation was under Emergency after the brutal chineese attack in Oct -Nov 1962.Army was beeing expanded many folds.Govt of India had issued notification that one year service in Army will be counted as two years in civil service  and encouraged state and central Govt employees to serve in the Army as Emergency service Commissioned Officers.

                Ganesan's senior officer without forwarding the resignation letter,reminded him of the above situation and motivated him to join the Army.Ganesan was very much interested in Tamil litratures and warfare of great kings like Ashoka,Tamil chera,chozha,Pandias etc.Athiyamaan's "Battle of thagadoor " is a classic example of patriotism and display of soldierly qualities.The destiny opend the "Heavens door" and dragged Ganesan into it.

                     Ganesan was commissioned on 03 May 1964 with Atheletics blazer into the "Corps of Engineers" of the Army.The role of '"Officership in the Army" was unknown to Ganesan.But his honesty and integrity had guarded him.The 1965 war had strengthened his interest in soldiering.But unfortunetely he was posted out to Military Engineering Sevices in 1968 as "Asst Garrission Engineer".It was a project for Eastern Air Command.One of the project was running into Crores.Inspite of hectic efforts Ganesan's posting could not be cancelled.So Ganesan joined in Megalaya.

                     The first step Ganesan took was to have a joint inspection with the contractor to assess the actual situation of the project.It was a one crore contract and contactor had been paid 32 lakhs sofar.The joint inspection revealed that only 28 lakh worth work had boon done including materials at site,In a running cotract little over payment is not a crime.But Ganesan being new to the work,clearly told that this over payment will not be carried forward.If the contarctor produces 6 lakh worth works,he will get only 2 lakh payment after adjusting the over payment.

             Capt (at that time ) Ganesan stayeyd for two years there and not a single payment was made to the contractor.The Executive Engineer,Superintending Engineer,Chief Engineer were all in the station and they were all tearing Ganesan into pieces for progress.Ganesan stood like a rock that it is contract work and I am to supervise and check quality of the work.

                    During this struggle,the National Emergency was lifted and those officers who were on lien with state Govt were given option either to continue or revert back to parent Department.Ganesan wanted to continue.but then he has to undergo another Services Selection Board.The situation under which Ganesan was working can any one expect that he will be selected to continue.?In addition to performance at S S B,confidential report on the officer also will be taken into account towards the selection for permanent commission. 

                 "Miracles" does takes place.Ganesan was selected by S S B Allahabad.(Earlier it was S S B Bangalore ).But the authorities were taking revenge in different form against Ganesan.His mother was in death bed and he was refused leave citting progress of work.Ganesan did not beg.He took it along and in the evening went to mess and had one or two pegs of whisky.Holding the glass in hand he was thinking about his mother,Blood pressure shoot up and the grip tightened.suddenly the glass broke to pieces and blood started oozing out from  wrist.Nothing serious.after little bandage ,he had food and then went to sleep.

                    It might have been about 3.00 am.Ganesan was in deep sleep.but the door slowly opened and a lady was walking slowly.On hearing some disturbance Ganesan opened his eyes.He just could not believe that his mother was slowly walking towards him.He fully opened his eyes and shocked.Ma ! Ma ! How could you come over here ?Ganesan stretched his hands to hold his mother's hand.Suddenly he realised that he was sitting on the bed  with stretched hand.Oh ! My God ....It was a dream.But visit of his mother was real.She assured her protection to Ganesan.

                 With a disturbed mind Ganesan went to his office which was under top security zone of Air force.Then  he rangup to his HQ to find out any news.The Head clark stated that another telegramme had come for me. Ganesan requested him to open and read.The head clark expressed regret that Ganesan's mother had expired.

                      The Executive engineer felt guilty for refusing  leave to Ganesan and litrally begged him to go immediately.

                          Ganesan did fly from Megalaaya to chennai and then by road to Sannanallur.But unfortunetely Ganesan was handed over only Ashes of his Mother.His mother had expired on 25 Feb 1970.In 1971 war Ganesan had gone to Eastern Sector.There he got few Pakistani bullets.In one of the bullet he extracted the lead,filled with his mothers ash and made a golden chain.The chain is always with him.

                 The name "Tornado " somehow attached to him .But Ganesan is simple and straight forward.

                                           இலையுதிர்  காலம்.

             மண்ணுலகில்  இருக்கும் சொர்க்கத்தை மக்கள் தெரிந்து கொள்வதுமில்லை,புரிந்துகொள்வதுமில்லை.இந்த மண்ணின் வளத்தை குறிஞ்சி,முல்லை,மருதம் ,நெய்தல் ,பாலை  என ஐந்து வகையாகப் பிரித்து  அவைகளுக்கான இலக்கணத்தை வகுத்து வாழ்ந்தனர் நம் முன்னோர்கள்.

குறிஞ்சி என்பது மலையும், மலை சார்ந்த இடமும் ஆகும். உதாரணமாக, ஊட்டி, கொடைக்கானல், குற்றாலம், ஏற்காடு போன்ற மலைப்பிரதேசங்கள் குறிஞ்சி நிலம் ஆகும். குறிஞ்சி நிலத்தில் வாழ்ந்த மக்கள் முருகனை வழிபட்டனர். இங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்களைக் "குறவர்" என்று கூறுவர். இவர்களது தொழில் "தேன் எடுத்தல், கிழங்கு அகழ்தல்" ஆகியன. மலை நெல், தினை ஆகியன இவர்களின் உணவுகள். அகில், வேங்கை ஆகியவை குறிஞ்சி நிலத்தின் மரங்கள். குறிஞ்சி மலர், காந்தள் ஆகிய பூக்கள் இங்கே பூக்கும். கிளி, மயில், புலி, கரடி, சிங்கம் ஆகியவை இங்கு வசிக்கும் பறவைகள் & விலங்குகள் ஆகும்.

முல்லை என்பது காடும், காடு சார்ந்த இடமும் ஆகும். முல்லை நில மக்கள் வணங்கிய தெய்வம் திருமால் ஆவார். இங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்களை "ஆயர்" என்று கூறுவர். இவர்களது தொழில் "ஏறுதழுவுதல், நிரை மேய்த்தல்" ஆகியன. அதாவது, ஏர் உழுதல், பசு மேய்த்தல் ஆகியன ஆகும். வரகு, சாமை ஆகியன இவர்களின் உணவுகள். கொன்றை, காயா ஆகியவை முல்லை நிலத்தில் வளரும் மரங்கள். முல்லை மலர், தோன்றி ஆகிய பூக்கள் இங்கே பூக்கும். காட்டுக் கோழி, மயில், முயல், மான், புலி ஆகியவை இங்கு வசிக்கும் பறவைகள் & விலங்குகள் ஆகும்.

மருதம் என்பது வயல், வயல் சார்ந்த இடமும் ஆகும். உதாரணமாக, தஞ்சாவூர் அருகே உள்ள வயல் சூழ்ந்த இடங்கள் மருதநிலம் ஆகும். மருதநில மக்கள் வணங்கிய தெய்வம் இந்திரன் ஆவார். இங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்களை "உழவர்" என்று கூறுவர். இவர்களது தொழில் "நெல்லரிதல், களை பறித்தல்" ஆகியன. செந்நெல், வெண்னெல் ஆகியன இவர்களின் உணவுகள். காஞ்சி, மருதம் ஆகியவை மருதநிலத்தில் வளரும் மரங்கள். செங்கழுநீர், தாமரை ஆகிய பூக்கள் இங்கே பூக்கும். நாரை, நீர்க்கோழி, அன்னம், எருமை, நீர்நாய் ஆகியவை இங்கு வசிக்கும் பறவைகள் & விலங்குகள் ஆகும்.

நெய்தல் என்பது கடலும், கடல் சார்ந்த இடமும் ஆகும். உதாரணமாக, திருச்செந்தூர், நாகப்பட்டினம் ஆகிய ஊர்களை ஒட்டிய கடல் பகுதி நெய்தல் நிலம் ஆகும். நெய்தல் நில மக்கள் வணங்கிய தெய்வம் வருணன் ஆவார். இங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்களை "பரதன்" என்று கூறுவர். இவர்களது தொழில் "மீன் பிடித்தல், உப்பு விளைவித்தல்" ஆகியன. மீன், உப்பு விற்று அதன் மூலம் கிடைத்த பொருள் இவர்களின் உணவு. புன்னை, ஞாழல் ஆகியவை நெய்தல் நிலத்தில் வளரும் மரங்கள். தாழை, நெய்தல் ஆகிய பூக்கள் இங்கே பூக்கும். கடற்காகம், முதலை, சுறா ஆகியவை இங்கு வசிக்கும் பறவைகள் & விலங்குகள் ஆகும்.

பாலை என்பது மணல், மணல் சார்ந்த இடமும் ஆகும். பாலை நில மக்கள் வணங்கிய தெய்வம் கொற்றவை (துர்கை அம்மன்). இங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்களை "எயினர்" என்று கூறுவர். பாலை நிலத்தில் விவசாயம் எதுவும் செய்யமுடியாது. ஆகையால், "வழிப்பறி செய்தல்" மட்டுமே இங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்களின் தொழில். சூறையாடலால் கிடைக்கும் பொருளை, இவர்கள் உணவாக உண்டனர். இலுப்பை, பாலை ஆகியவை பாலை நிலத்தில் வளரும் மரங்கள். குரவம், பாதிரி ஆகிய பூக்கள் இங்கே பூக்கும். வலிமை இழந்த யானை, புறா, பருந்து ஆகியவை இங்கு வசிக்கும் பறவைகள் & விலங்குகள் ஆகும்.

                 

        இதற்கு மேலும் நமது கிராமங்களைப்பற்றி சொல்ல வேண்டுமா ? இப்படிப்பட்ட கிராமத்தில் பிறப்பது நமது தவப்பயன். 

      

இயற்கையோடு இயைந்து வாழ்ந்த மக்கள். 

                       இயற்கையோடு   இயைந்து வாழ்ந்த மக்கள் இனம் 84 லட்சம் யோனிபேதங்களடங்கிய  உயிரினங்களின்  தன்மையறிந்து இந பேதமின்றி வாழ்ந்து வந்தனர்.ஆறறிவு பெற்ற  மனிதன் ஐம்புலன்களின் ஈர்ப்பாலும்,ஞானேந்திரியங்கள்,கர்மேந்திரியங்கள் வளர்ச்சியாலும்  தானே வல்லவன் என்ற இறுமாப்படைந்து  கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக இயற்கையை சிதைக்க  ஆரம்பித்தான்.அதன் விளைவாக இயற்கைப் பேரிடர்களாக  புயல்,பூகம்பம்,பெரு மழை,வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு என நிகழ ஆரம்பித்தன.

              தமிழர் பருவ காலங்கள் என்பது, பண்டைக்காலம் முதல் தமிழ்நாட்டில் வழக்கில் இருந்த பருவகாலப் பிரிவுகளைக் குறிக்கும். தமிழர்கள் ஓர் ஆண்டை கார்காலம், குளிர்காலம், ​முன்பனிக்காலம், பின்பனிக்காலம், இளவேனில்காலம், முதுவேனில்காலம் என ஆறு பருவங்களாக பிரித்தனர்.

• கார்காலம்: இது தமிழ் மாதமான ஆடி, ஆவணி யை உள்ளடக்கியது.
• குளிர்காலம்: இது தமிழ் மாதமான புரட்டாசி, ஐப்பசி யை உள்ளடக்கியது. இலைகள் கூம்பி உதிர்வது கூதிர் எனப்படும்.
• முன்பனிக்காலம்: தமிழ் மாதமான கார்த்திகை, மார்கழி யை உள்ளடக்கியது.
• பின்பனிக்காலம்: இது தமிழ் மாதமான தை, மாசி யை உள்ளடக்கியது.
• இளவேனில்காலம்: இது தமிழ் மாதமான பங்குனி, சித்திரை யை உள்ளடக்கியது.
• முதுவேனில்காலம்: இது தமிழ் மாதமான வைகாசி, ஆனி யை உள்ளடக்கியது.

பண்டைத் தமிழ் மக்கள் மாறிமாறி வரும் பருவ காலங்களைக் காலத்தின் மாற்றங்களாக மட்டும் கருதாமல் மக்கள் வாழ்வியலுடனும், அவர்கள் வாழும் நிலத்துடனும் பிணைத்துப் பார்த்தார்கள். தமிழர் நிலப் பிரிவுகளான முல்லை, குறிஞ்சி, மருதம், நெய்தல், பாலை போன்றவற்றுக்கு உரித்தான பருவகாலங்களைப் பற்றித் தொல்காப்பியம் பேசுகிறது. இதன்படி, முல்லை நிலத்துக்குக் கார் காலமும்; குறிஞ்சி நிலத்துக்குக் கூதிர் காலமும், முன்பனிக் காலமும்; மருதத்துக்கும், நெய்தலுக்கும் எல்லாப் பருவகாலங்களும், பாலை நிலத்துக்கு இளவேனில், முதுவேனில், முன்பனி ஆகிய காலங்களும் உரியவை.^[1]

 

                    இலையுதிர்காலம் என்பது நான்கு மிதவெப்பநிலை நிலவும் பருவங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். கோடைகாலத்தில் இருந்து குளிர்காலத்திற்கு மாற்றம் நடைபெறுகையில் இலையுதிர்காலம் ஏற்படுகிறது. குறிப்பிடும்படியாக இரவு முன்கூட்டியே வந்தடையும் போது, வழக்கமாக மார்ச் மாதத்தில் அல்லது செப்டம்பரில் (வடகோளப்பகுதி) இலையுதிர்காலம் உண்டாகிறது.

             மனித  வாழ்க்கையிலும் இலையுதிர்காலம் உண்டு என்பதை நாம் புரிந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும். மனம்,புத்தி,,சித்தம் ,அஹங்காரம் என்ற அந்த    கரணங்களை நாம் செம்மையாக உபயோகப்படுத்தியிருந்தால்  இந்த இலையுதிர்காலம் நம்மை அதிகக் கஷ்டப்படுத்தாது.

                  வாழ்வின் இளமைப்பருவத்தில் ஏராளமான எதிர்பார்ப்புகளுடன் நாம் இருந்து முதுமையில் பின்னோக்கிப்பார்த்து வருத்தம் கொள்வதை விட மகிழ்ச்சி கொள்ளவேண்டும். ஏனெனில் எண்ணங்களுக்குத்தான் நாம் உரிமையாளர்களேயொழிய அதன் விளைவுகள் நமது கட்டுப்பாட்டில் இருப்பதில்லை.

                   ஆகையினால் வாருங்கள்,முதுமையை மகிழ்வோடு வரவேற்போம். திறமையை வளர்த்து,அதன் காரணமாக செல்வத்தை 

சேர்த்தவர்கள்,வறியவர்களுக்கு  வாரி வழங்குங்கள். 

              ஒரு நடுத்தர குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்து வளர்ந்திருந்தாலும் பொருள் சேர்க்கவேண்டும் என்ற பேராசை கணேசன் மனதில் எழவேயில்லை. அதற்க்கு மாறாக எனது வாழ்க்கைப் பாதயில் நடந்துபாருங்கள் என்று உலகுக்குச் சொல்வதுபோல் "அகத் தூண்டுதல் பூங்கா "அமைத்து உலக்கோரை அழைக்கிறார். 

                    

உலகில் வேறு எங்குமே காணமுடியாத ,காலத்தை வென்று நிற்கும் நினைவாலயம்.. மனிதனின் திறமை அளவுகோளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது என்பதை நிரூபிக்கும் இடம் . தென் துருவத்திலிருந்து ஏழு கடல் தாண்டி பதினைந்தாயிரம் கி. மீ. கடந்து திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் சன்னாநல்லுர் கிராமத்தில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

                                                     Colonel Tornado-6.

                        All ranks of M E G & Centre had started realising that a different type of officer had come to command Training Battalion-1.The Commanding Officer was specially selecetd for conducting President of India's Colour Presentation parade which went of very well on 02 March 1990.

              Training Battalion-1 of M E G & Centre is a vantage battalion drawing attention of every visitor to M E G. Colonel Ganesan had come after commanding 4 Engineer Regiment for three years and ther after being India's mission leader to Antarctica.So he was clear in his mind about producing the best soldiers of M E G.He did not compromise any part of soldier training.Recruits are to be attested with in 52 weeks and Police verification of their character  etc are primary requirement for attestation.

                      Ganesan Found that recruits who are in 60 th and 65 th week of training are continuing with out attestation and no one appears to have understood  the seriousness of this.After imparting weapon training ,explosive handling and mine warfare if the police verification comes as negative and unsuitable for Army,we cannot retain hin in Army.when we discharge him as unsuitable for Army, he becomes ideal cadidate fot Anti national activities.

  The Colenel drafted a strong letter to all Superintendent of police that they will be abetting this crime as they had not taken immediate action.About 50 recruits were immediately despatched to their native place with  that letter.No wonder that within a week all police verification done and recruits were attested.

                Durring such all round drive to produce best recruits,the colonel was working rest less.One day he was returning to Battalion after lunch at about 15.00 hrs.In the Battalion area ,he found a recruit running arround in swimming trunk and two N C O s were chassing him to catch.The colonel stopped and cought the Recruit.The N C O explained that there is swimming class for the recruits and this boy is scarred of entering water and is running away.Colonel ordered all to come to swimming pool.

                     There he had ordered one of the N C O to bring a street dog.The recruit was told to identify the dog.There after one N C O  lifetd the dog and was ordered to throw the dog into the wsimming poll.The dog swam and ran away.Colnel asked the recruit whether he is inferior to even the dog.The dog swam with out any training.Here two N C O s are there to teach you swimming.why you are scarred.Come on!. get into the shallow portion of the pool.The recruit slowly got into the pool and started learning swimming.The Colonel left the place.

             It might have been about 30 years since then.The Colonel retired from Army and was staying in Chennai.On one fine morning a stranger came to Colonel's house with a fruit basket and greeted the Colonel.The stranger introduced himself as Sub &Hon Lt Ramadass (name changed ).Colonel suddenly remembered the name and the swimming pool incident.Yes ! It was the same recruit who was scarred of entering water.

                      How is this transformation has taken place ? Sub Ramadass with tears rolling explained the changes.After the swimming pool incident ,it was a big blow to his imagined psycho and completely changed his attitude in life.For the last 30 years he had been thinking of the Colonel's blast at the swimming pool which was driving him hard to this level of Sobedar & Hon Lt  and he retired last moth.For the last one month he had been trying to find the where about of Colonel Ganesan and today his  prayers of 30 years had been fullfilled.

               Colonel stood silently seeing the product of his contribution.

         That is how the name "Colonel Tornado " struck him strongly.

                                                    Colonel Tornado-5

                      "Jai hind Saheb ". As the company commander and his Subedar were walking through the lines,a jawan greeted them.The officer returned the salute and was moving ahead.The Subedar was explaining that the jawan had gone on two months annual  leave but returned to unit with in a week.On hearing this the officer stopped there itself and looked at the jawan.Then  he asked the J CO to explain in detail.without any  exitement,he very casually told that jawans generally hail from poor family where they may not have even full three meals.So after meeting their kith and kin they sometimes return to unit where they have good food.

              The officer did not accept the JCO version and ordered to bing the jawan for interview on the next day.The jawan by name Nageswar Rao was brought on interview.He was literelly shivering as if he had committed an offence.The officer took some time to put him ease and asked him the reason for not availing full leave.After coaxing him for sometime,he had opened his mouth.

                        It seems that there was some long standing dispute with their neighbour in the village and that erupted again when he went on leave.Their neighbour who was in Andra police took matter seriously beat his brother and put him in lockup.Our jawan was afraid and ran back to unit.our Subedar without going into the detail concluded himself that our jawan came back out of poverty.

              The Officer had a hearty laugh and assured the jawan that all necessary help will be given.He ordered a team of five headed by a JCO including the jawan would go to his village and get correct details including postal address of District Collector and Supdt of Police.The team returned after a week and what the jawan had stated was correct.

                   The officer drafted a long latter to the district collector.Since the officer hails from an agriculture environment there was no delay in understanding jawan's problem.The small irrigation canal was running through the neighbour's land into our jawans land.The neighbour felt that all manure etc are getting drained into our jawan's land and hence he remeved the canal bunds and merged with his land.Our jawan's land was not getting water for irrigation.

              Irrigation and agriculture has to be progressed with full co-operation of all.When there is heavy rain and flood no one can say my field shoud not get flood.So the officer drafted a vey emotional letter of soldiering and agriculture to the Collector and sought his personnel intervention in solving this.Our jawan continued his stay in the unit.

               After about two months the officer got a reply from the collector that the jawan's problem had been solved.The officer ordered the same team to go  back to vilaage and check.If the jawan is satisfied ,he will continue to stay fresh two moths leave.The team less the jawan returned with excellent news.

                 On receipt of the letter the collector along with his revenue offivials inspected the site.He immediately released our jawans brother from lockup and suspended the Andra police fellow.The land reclamation was done with proper irrigation canal and noted in revenue records so that no such dispute comes up again.

                  On arrival of our team at the Railway station for the second time the entire village turned up with Band and garlands to greet our jawan .They took  them arround the village to demonstrate the respect they give to Army.

                     After a lapse of about 10 years ,lot many changes had taken place.The officer was invited for the silver jublee function of the Regimet to Allahabad.There in an casual evening the officer was walking in civil dress.some standby jawan said "Jai hind saheb". Oh ! Jai hind thambi, "I had left about 10 years before, can you still recognise me.what is your name ?

                "Saheb,as an Officer ,you might come across thousands of jawans.But a jawan like me very rarely come across God in human form .How can I forget you Saheb.I am same Andra jawan Nageswar Rao whom you had helpd in restoring our agriculture .I only keep youe photo in our Puja room Saheb "

                      Oh ! No thambi.I only did my duty.Don't elevate me to that level.

               The officer who was nick named as "Colonel Tornado "later smilingly walks away

                          சீருடையணிந்த  சூறாவளி-3

              தமிழ்நாட்டின் பொதுப்பணிதுறை பொறியாளரான பாவாடை கணேசன் யாரும் கற்பனைக்கூட  செய் திராத விதத் தில் பொருள்மீதோ செல்வம் சேர்ப்பதிலோ ஆவல் இல்லாமல் வளர்ந்தார். இதனால் பொதுப்பணிதுறை வேலையில் அவருக்கு விருப்பமில்லைஅந்நிலையில் இந்தியா-சீனா பேரும் அதன் காரணமாக ஏராளமான இராணுவத்தினர் உயிழப்பும் நேர்ந்தது. நாட்டில் அவசரகாலநிலை பிரகடனப்ப படுத்தி இராணுவம் மிகப்பெரும் அளவில் விரிவுவுபடுத்தப்பட்டது. மத்திய அரசிலும் மாநில அளவிலும் பணியாற்றுவோரில் தகுதியானவர்களை இராணுவ அதிகாரிகளாக வரும்படி சுற்றறிக்கை விடப்பட்டது. 

                           பொதுவாக  வீர தீர விளையாட்டுகளில் ஆர்வம் மிகுந்த கணேசன் இதுவே சரியான சந்தர்ப்பம் என்று முடிவெடுத்து இராணுவததேர்வுகளுக்கு சென்றார். அதிர்ஷ்ட்டவசமாக அவர் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டார். 

                          காலமெனும் காட்டாற்று வெள்ளம் கறை புரண்டோடியது. சிறந்த நீச்சல் வீரரான கணேசன் இக்கறைக்கும் அக்கறைக்குமாக நீந்திவிளையாடலானார்.உடல ளவிலும் மனதளவிலும் வலுவானவரான கணேசன் இராணுவ செயல் பாடுகளிலும் சிறந்து விளங்கியதால் தான் உண்மைக்குப் புறம்பான செயல்களில் நாட்டமின்றி பணியாற்ற ஆரம்பித்தார். இராணுவ ஒழுங்குமுறைகளை மிகவும் கண்டிப்புடன் நடைமுறைப் படுத்தலானார். 

                            இதனால் மறைமுகமாக அவருக்கு சில எதிரிகள் தோன்ற ஆரம்பித்தனர்.

                   இது ஒரு  warning letter. இந்த கடிதம்  கிடைத்தபின் சுமார் 2000  இராணுவத்தினரிடையே இக்கடிதாதைப் படிததுகாண்பித்தார். இதற்கிடையில் கடிதம் எழுதியவரைக் கண்டுபிடித்துவிட்டார். ஏனென்றால் கடிதம் எழுதிய  பிறக்கும் கர்னல் கணேசன் தனது நடவடிக்கைகளில் தீவிரமாக இருந்ததால் கடிதம் எழுதியவர் மன்னிப்புக் கடிதம் எழுதிவிட்டார்.

                கர்னல் கணேசனுக்கு தனது நடவடிக்கைகள் இராணுவத்தினர் மத்தியில் சிறந்தமாற்றத்தையேதான் தரும் என்பதில் அவருக்கு கொஞ்சமும் சந்தேகம் இல்லை.இராணுவத்தினரிடையே  கர்னலது நடவடிக்கைகள் அவர்களது சிறந்த எதிர்காலத்தை க் காட்டியது என்றால் மிகையில்லை.

            ஓய்வு பெற்றபின்னரும் கர்னல் கணேசன் சக இராணுவத்தினருக்கு தன்னாலான  உதவிகளை செய்துவருக்கிறார்.

              இராணுவத்தைப்பற்றி  கனவில் கூட நினைத்திராத கர்னல் கணேசன் ஒரு விபத்துபோல  இராணுவ அதிகாரியானது மட்டுமில்லாமல் தன்னிகரற்ற தலைவவனாக பணியாற்றிக்கொண்டிருந்தார் .அவரையறியாமலேயே " Colonel Tornado " :"என்ற  அடைமொழி வந்து ஒட்டிக்கொண்டது.

              1990 ம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 2 ம் நாள் இந்தியக் குடியரசு தலைவரின் "கொடி வழங்கு விழா" நடத்த M E G Bangalore  தயாராகிக்கொண்டிருந்தது.அந்த சமயத்தில்தான் கர்னல் கணேசன் தனது அண்டார்க்டிக்கா டெபுடேஷன் பயணம் முடித்திருந்தார்.காக்கை உட்கார பனம் பழம் விழுந்ததுபோல்  கர்னல் கணேசன் பயிற்சிப் படைப்பிரிவு தலைவராக பெங்களூரு வந்து சேர்ந்தார்.

                    குடியரசு தலைவரின் விழா சிறப்பாக நடந்து முடிந்தது.சற்றே நிறுத்தி வைத்திருந்த மற்ற ரெஜிமெண்ட்டால் நிகழ்வுகள் விஸ்வரூபமெடுக்க ஆரம்பித்தன.

   On 24 February 1944, during the Allied campaign in Italy Sub Subramaian had won the George Cross at Mignano by throwing himself onto a mine about to detonate and thus successfully protecting others from the blast. His award was gazetted posthumously on 30 June 1944. He was also awarded the Indian Distinguished Service Medal.

          அன்று முதல் எம்.இ ,ஜி யின் இளநிலை அதிகாரிகள் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் சுப்பிரமணியம் நினைவு நாள்  அனுசரித்து வருகிறார்கள்.

                         1991.ம் ஆண்டு பிப் 24 அன்று வழக்கம்போல் சுப்பிரமணியம் நினைவுநாள் அனுசரிக்க ஏற்பாடுகள் நடக்க ஆரம்பித்தன.இளநிலை அதிகாரிகளின் நிர்வாகம் பயிற்சிப் படைப்பிரிவு-1 ன் கீழ் இருந்தது.ஆகையினால் வயது முதிர்ந்த ஓய்வுபெற்ற அவர்களின் தலைவராக இருக்கும் ஒரு அதிகாரி கர்னல் கணேசனிடம் வந்து அந்த ஆண்டு சுப்பிரமணியம் நினைவுநாள்  மிகவும் சிறப்பாக இருக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்.

                     சுபேதார் சுப்பிரமணியம் பற்றிய கோப்புகளில் அவர் காஞ்சீபுரத்திற்கு அருகில் உள்ள "கீழ ஒத்திவாக்கம் "  என்ற ஊரைச்சேர்ந்தவர்  என்பதுமட்டுமே இருந்தது.இளநிலை அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவரை அழைத்து சுப்பிரமணியம் மனைவி ,பிள்ளைகள் போன்ற விபரங் களைக்  கொண்டு வரும்படி சொல்லி மூன்றுநாட்கள் நேரம் கொடுத்திருந்தார்.

                   மூன்றாம் நாள்  அந்த இளநிலை அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவரை அழைத்து விபரங்கள் கேட்டார்.அதற்கு அவர் ," ஐயா,சென்ற 46 வருடங்களாக சுப்ர்மானியம் நினைவு நாளில் எந்த மாற்றமும் இல்லை.ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் அவருடைய புகைப்படம் வைத்து பூஜை செய்து விட்டு,அவருடன் பணியாற்றியவர்கள்,அவரது இராணுவ அறிமுகமானவர்கள் போன்றோர்களின் இரங்கல் உரையுடன் நிகழ்ச்சிகள் முடிந்துவிடும்.இதைத்தவிர சுப்பிரமணியம் பற்றிய வேறு விபரங்கள் எங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது. என்று முடித்தார்.

                 கர்னல் கணேசன் தன முன்னிருந்த மேஜையின் ட்ராயரைத் திறந்து ஒரு கவரை எடுத்து சுமார் பத்து புகைப்படங்களை எடுத்து வெளியில் வைத்தார்.எல்லாம் சுப் .சுப்ரமணி யனுடையது. அந்த இளநிலை அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவர் கண்கள் விரிய உற்று பார்த்துக்கொண்டு  இதெல்லாம் ஏது  ஐயா ?  என்று ஆச்சரியத்துடன் கேட்டார். இங்குதான் கர்னல் கணேசன் "கர்னல் டோர்னடோ" என்று  பெயரெடுக்கிறார்.

                      இளநிலை அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவரிடம்  இரண்டு நாட்களில் சுப் .சுப்ரமனின் மேலும் விபரங்களுடன் வரவேண்டும் என்று கர்னல் கணேசன் கட்டளையிட்டார் இல்லையா ? சென்ற 46 வருடங்களாக  சேகரிக்க முடியாத விபரங்களையா இவர் கொண்டுவர போகிறார் என்ற சந்தேகம்  கணேசனுக்கு இருந்தது.மறுநாள் காலை ஒரு காமெராவை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு கணேசன் காஞ்சீபுரம் சென்றார்.அங்கிருந்து ஒரு ஆட்டோவில் "கீழ ஒத்திவாக்கம் " சென்றார்.அங்கு சுப்பிரமணியனின் வீடு,உறவினர்கள் எல்லாம் இருக்கிறது.சுப்பிரமணியனின் தந்தையும் ஒரு முன்னாள் இராணுவ அதிகாரி.விபரங்களை சேகரித்து,புகைப்படம் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு நேரே சென்னை சென்று சுரமணியன் மகன் "துரைலிங்கம்"  அவர்களை சந்தித்து அவரது தந்தையின் நினைவுநாளில்  பெங்களூர்  வந்து கலந்துகொள்ளும்படி அழைப்பு கொடுத்துவிட்டு இரவே கணேசன் பெங்களூர் வந்துவிட்டார்.

                        எதிரே நின்றுகொண்டிருந்த இளநிலை அதிகாரிகளின் தலைவரிடம் மேலும் விபரங்கள் சொல்லி 24 Feb 1991 வரலாற்று புகழ் மிக்கத்  திருப்புமுனையாக அமைய ஆகவேண்டிய வேலைகளை செய்யும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார்.

                  சுரமணியனின் மகன் சென்னையிலிருந்து உடனடியாக கர்னல் கணேசனுக்கு ஒரு நன்றி  கடிதம்  எழுதியிருந்தார்.46 வருடங்களாக சுப்ரமணியனின்  ஒரே மகனான துரைலிங்கத்திற்குக்கூட  தெரியாமல்  அவரது நினைவுநாள்  எம் .இ .ஜி  யில்  அனு சரிக்கப்பட்டது  என்பது  எவ்வளவு பெரிய அவமரியாதை.

                          Hallo, Colonel Tornado,Please come in.......

         எனது தென் துருவ பணி  முடிந்தது ம் எம்,இ .ஜி ( Madras Engineer Group ) யில் பயிற்சி படைப்பிரிவு தலைவராக பொறுப்பேற்று சிலநாட்கள் ஆகியிருந்தன.துரதிர்ஷ்ட வசமாக ஒரு ஜூனியர் அதிகாரியின் கோர்ட் மார்ஷல் முடியும் நிலையில் நான் பொறுப்பேற்றிருந்தேன்.அந்த அதிகாரிக்கு சிறைத்தண்டனை விதிக்கப்பட்டு விட்டது.அந்த நிகழ்வில் எனது பங்கு ஏதுமில்லை என்றாலும் படைப்பிரிவு தலைவர் என்ற முறையில் எனது பெயர் பரவலாகப் பேசப்பட்டு  கணேசன் ஒரு கடுமையான அதிகாரி என்று எல்லோரும் நினைக்கும்படி ஆகிவிட்டது.

                        பொதுவாக உண்மையும்  நேர்மையுமான வழி முறைகளை பின் பற்றும் எனக்கு ஒருவிதத்தில்  அந்த கோர்ட் மார்ஷல் ஒரு நல்ல அறிமுகம் என்று நான் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டேன்.தவறுகள் திருத்தப்படவேண்டும்; குற்றங்கள் தண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்  என்ற கொள்கையைக் கடைபிடிப்பவன் நான்.

                       சிலநாட்கள் சென்று எம்.இ .ஜி  வளாகத்தில் உள்ள அக்கவுண்ட்ஸ்  பிரிவுக்கு சென்றேன். I A S  தேர்வில் மெரிட்டில் சற்று குறைந்ததினால் I D AS கிடைக்கப்பெற்று லக்ஷ்மி  என்ற பெண் அதிகாரி பொறுப்பாளராக இருந்தார்.என்னைப்பற்றி அவரது உதவியாளர் அறிமுகம் செய்த பிறகு ,ஒ ! welcome ! Colonel Tornado என்று வரவேற்று எனக்கு வேண்டிய உதவிகளை செய்தார்.

                 வித்தியாசமாக அவர் என்னைப்பற்றிக் குறிப்பிட்டது எனக்கு ஆச்சர்யமாக இருந்தது.அன்றைக்கிருந்த சூழ்நிலையில் எனது செயல் பாடுகள் அதிரடியாக இருந்தன என்பது உண்மைதான்.போர்க்குணம் நிறைந்த கஷத்ரிய வம்சத்தவர்கள் நிறைந்திருக்க வேண்டிய இராணுவத்தில் அதுவும் அதிகார வம்சத்தில் வியாபாரிகளும் புரோகிதர்களும் தரகர்களும் நுழைந்து விட்டார்கள் .உயர் அதிகாரிகளை அனுசரித்து உண்மைக்குப் புறம்பாகச் செயல்படும் இவர்களுக்கிடையில்  அதிரடியாக,நிகழ்வுகளைத் துகிலுரித்து ஒளிவு மறைவின்றி செயல் படுத்தும் என்னை colonel Tornado என்று அவர் குறிப்பிட்டது பொருத்தமானதுதான்.

                  1990 ல்  குடியரசு தலைவருக்கான அணிவகுப்பின் போது நடந்த ஒரு நிகழ்வு.இராணுவத்தின் மத குருமார்களான ஹிந்து,முஸ்லீம் மற்றும் கிறிஸ்தவ குருமார்கள் "கலர்ஸ் " எனப்படும் கொடி  யை பூஜை செய்து பரிசுத்தப் படுத்தும் நிகழ்வு.இதில் கிறிஸ்தவ பாதிரியார் ஆசீர்வாத ஒத்திகை நடத்த மறுத்துவிட்டார்.அது அவர்கள் மத கோட்பாடு இல்லை என்று வாதமிட்டார்.அசம்பாவிதம் ஏதும் நிகழ் வதைத் தவிர்க்க நிகழ்ச்சி சுமுகமாக முடிக்கப் பட்டது.அதன் பிறகு கர்னல் பாதிரியாரை அலுவலகம் அழைத்தார். பாதிரியார் தனது வழக்கமான நீண்ட அங்கியில் வந்தார்.அவர்  ஒரு இளநிலை  இராணுவ அதிகாரி என்றும் வழிபாட்டுத்தலங்களைத்தவிர மற்ற இடங்களில் அவர் இராணுவ சீருடையில்தான் வரவேண்டும் என்றும்  கர்னல் உத்தரவிட்டு மறுநாள் வரும்படி உத்தரவிட்டார்.ஆனால் மறுநாளும் அவர் அதே நீண்ட வெள்ளையாடையில்தான் வந்தார்.

                     தனது கட்டளைக்கு கீழ்ப்படியாமல்  மீண்டும் அதே பாதிரியாரின் வெள்ளை ஆடையில் வந்தது கண்டு  கர்னலுக்கு  சற்று ஆச்சர்யமாகவும் கோபமாகவும் இருந்தது.ஏன் இராணுவ சீருடையில் வரவில்லை  என்று கர்னல் கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர் சொன்ன பதில் இராணுவ வாழ்க்கையில் கர்னல் கேட்டறியாதது.தான் ஒரு கிறிஸ்தவ பாதிரியாராக நியமிக்கப் பட்டுள்ளதால்  தனக்கு அது தேவையில்லை என்று விற்றுவிட்டதாகவும்  ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் தனக்கு கிடைக்கும் இராணுவ தளவாடங்களை விற்று விடுவதாகவும் பதிலளித்தார்.

                    இராணுவதைப்  பற்றி கனவு கூட கண்டறியாத கர்னல் கணேசன் 1962 ல் நாட்டில் அவசரகால நிலை பிரகடனப் படுத்தியபொழுது  வீட்டுக்கொரு ஆள் நாட்டுக்காகப்  போகவேண்டும் என்ற பண்டைய தமிழர்களின் கோட்பாடு மாதிரி தான் பணிபுரிந்துகொண்டிருந்த பொதுப்பணித்துறை பொறியாளர் வேலையை துச்சமெனத் தூக்கியெறிந்துவிட்டு இராணுவ அதிகாரியானவர்.தீவிர மொழிப்பற்றும் நாட்டுப்பற்றும் கொண்டவர்.1965,மற்றும் 1971 போர்க்களங்களில் தீவிர பங்குகொண்டு விழுப்புண் விருது பெற்றவர். உடலளவிலும் மனதளவிலும் தன்னிகரற்றது தலைவனாகப் பவனி வருபவர்.ஒன்றரை ஆண்டுகள் அண்டார்க்டிக்கா  உறைபனி உலகில் இந்தியாவின் ஆய்வுக்குழு தலைவராகப் பணியாற்றிவிட்டு அப்பொழுதுதான் திரும்பியிருந்தார்.

          இராணுவப் பணியே குறிக்கோளாகக் கொண்டு பரம்பரை பரம்பரையாகப்  பணியாற்றிவரும் எத்தனையோ இராணுவ அதிகாரிகளைப்  பின்னுக்குத் தள்ளி  முன்னால்  நிற்பவர்.

          வரும் பகைவர் படை கண்டு  மார்தட்டிக்  களம்  புகுந்த மக்களைப்   பெற்றோர் வாழ்க !.

          மணம்கொண்ட  துணைவருக்கு விடை தந்து வேல் தந்த மறக்குலப் பெண்கள் வாழ்க !.

          உரம் கொண்டு போராடி உதிரத்தில் நீராடி  அறம் காத்த உள்ளம் வாழ்க !.

            திறமானப் புகழ்கொண்ட திடமானத் தோள்களும் செயல் வீரர் மரபும் வாழ்க !

                       அதிகாரிகளின் நன்மதிப்பைப்பெற அவர்களுக்கு அடிமை போல் வேலைசெய்துகொண்டு தனது கடமையின் கண்ணியத்தை மறந்து உண்மைக்குப் புறம்பான கூட்டி எழுதப்பட்ட "செயலாக்க அறிக்கையின்" காரணமாகப் பதவி உயர்வு பெரும்  கயவர்களுக்காக கர்னல் வருத்தப்பட்டார்.

                  இராணுவ இளநிலை அதிகாரி என்ற கௌரவத்துடன்,அரசாங்க வீட்டில் இருந்துகொண்டு,பிள்ளைகளை இராணுவப் பள்ளிகளில் படிக்கவும் இலவசமாக உணவு,உடை பெற்றுக்கொண்டிருக்கும் இந்த பாதிரியார் எவ்வளவு பெரிய துரோகத்தை இந்த நாட்டுக்குச் செய்துகொண்டிருக்கிறார்.? இத்தனை ஆண்டுகளாக அதிகார வர்க்கம் எப்படி தன்  கடமையை ஆற்றிக்கொண்டிருந்தது. ஏன் இது மற்ற அதிகாரிகளின் கண்களில் படவில்லை.?

                                          இராணுவ சம்பிரதாயப்படி பாதிரியார் குற்றவாளி .அவர் தண்டிக்கப் படவேண்டும்.தவறுகள் திருத்தப்படவேண்டும்;குற்றங்கள் தண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்ற கோட்பாடு உடையவர் கர்னல் .ஆனால் பாதிரியார் அறியாமையினால் செய்துகொண்டிருக்கும் தவறு திருத்தப்படவேண்டும்.அதே சமயம் மத கோட்பாடுகளைத் தீவிரமாகப் பின் பற்றும் அவர் இராணுவ வழிமுறைகளுக்கு ஏற்புடையவர் இல்லை.

                                     அடுத்த இரண்டு நாட்களில் இராணுவ மத போதகர் என்ற பணியில் இளநிலை அதிகாரியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த  அவர் தன்  விருப்ப விடுப்பில் தென் மண்டல  இராணுவத்தளபதியின் ஒப்புதலுடன் விடுவிக்கப்பட்டார்.

                               1964 முதல் 1994 வரை முப்பதாண்டுகால இராணுவப் பணியில் இதுபோன்ற பல நிகழ்ச்சிகள்  நடந்துள்ளன. எத்தனையோ அதிகாரிகள் பயணித்திருக்கும் அதிகார வர்க்கப் பாதையில் கர்னல் கணேசனின் பயணம் வித்தியாசமானதாகத்  தெரிகிறது.அவர் பணித்த பாதை ஒளி வீசுகிறது.ஆங்காங்கே திருப்புமுனைத் தடயங்கள் இருக்கின்றன.
