                                                  Colonel Ganesan's Antarctic experiences.

           Wintering at Antarctica is an unique experience for a person.But the impact of that depends upon the inbuilt texture of that person. Ganesan had  natural inclination to be adventurist,sportsman,philosophere,psychologist, spiritual leader and a Rationalist. This type of combination does not happen usually.

Life is the sum total of experience gained by an individual from birth to death.Accordingly man comes in contact with the world of object and ekes out himself for pleasure or pain ,joy or sorrow and failure or success.His reactions are dependent upon the quality and texture of his mind and intellect equipment.There is an infinite variety in the texture and composition of equipment varying from individual to individual.Thus the world provides different and distinct visions according to the equipment of the individual who projects them.

                            So Ganesan's wintering experience was totally different from other wintering members.The additional advantage was that he was the leader and station commander of Indian Antarctic research station.These factors placed him in a position to do things for the benifit of the country and that of posterity with out carring for his superiors when ever they go wrong.

              The book of Antarctic experience written in tamil drew the greatest admiration of Dr.Avvoi Natarajan Retd Vice chancellor of Tamil university ,Thanjavur.On publication and priced Rs 150/per copy 7500 copies were ordered as a single purchase and perhaps entire Tamilnadu Govt Libraries has got a copy.

                    This copy has reached  famous phlantherepist and bussinessman Nalli Kuppusamy chettiar.After going through it perhaps he thought it was worth mentioning amongst the best books he had read. But it is a pity that Sri Kuppusamy chettiar did not bother to find out about the author .

                       Under the above circumstances one day there was a call from Rajapalayam from Kurinji chelvar Dr.Ko.Ma. kothandam.He had gone through Nalli Kuppusamy chettiar's book  where he had written about my Antarctic experiences.He requested me to send a copy of my Antarctic experience book.After going through the book he  wrote a poetry in tamil.This is  for the readers who can understand Tamil.

              பூமி உருண்டையின் தென்கோடி 

             பூரண அழகுடை பனி ப்பரப்பு.

             ஆமிதன்  பெயரே அண்டார்க்டிகா .

             அகிலம் வியக்கும் அவ்விடமே 

             எங்கு பார்க்கிலும் பனிப்பரப்பே 

             என்றுமெப்போதும் உறைபனியே 

             அங்கிலை  புல் ,பூண்டு உயிரினங்கள் 

             அதிகக்   குளிரே  அப்பப்பா  

              நடுங்க வைக்கும் பெருங்குளிரே 

                நாடியை மாற்றிடும் குளிர் காற்றே. 

                அடுக்கடுக்காணப் பனிப்பொழிவே 

              அதுவே பனியின் பாலைவனம்.

                உயினம் வாழ்ந்திட இயலாதாம் 

                ஓய்வெடுத்திடவும் முடியாதாம்.

                வெய்யிலும் அதிகம் கிடையாது 

                 வெக்கை வியர்வை தெரியாது.

                ஆறு மாதம் ஒரே பகலாம் 

               அடடா என்னே ஒளிவெள்ளம் 

               ஆறுமாதம் ஒரே இரவாம் 

                அடடா என்னே கருமை இருள்.

                 மார்கழி மாத குளிர்தானே 

                மனிதரை ஆட்டிப் படைத்திடுதே 

               பாரதின் தென் துருவக்  குளிரே 

               படிக்கையில்கூட உடல் நடுங்கும் .

              புவியியல் வானியல் காற்றியலை 

              புத்தம் புதிதாய் ஆய்ந்திடவே
             புவிப்பல நாடுகள் அங்கு வந்தே
             பொறுப்புடன் தங்கி ஆய்ந்திடுவார்

              இந்த உலகில் உயர்நாடு
               இந்தியாவும் அவ்விடத்தில்
              சொந்த ஆய்வரங்கு அமைத்துள்ளதாம்
              தூய தக்ஷிண்கங்கோத்ரி .

             அவ்வப்போது பலநாட்டினரும்
              ஆய்வுக்கங்கே சென்றுதங்கி
             வெவேறு விதத்தில் பலமாதம்
             விரும்பி சிரமப்பட்டு வருமாம்.
              பனி யில் குளிரில் பல மாதம்
              படுக்கை உணவு உடையோடு
            துணிவாய்த் துன்பமதையேற்றே
            சொல்லொனாத் துன்பம் அடைந்திடுமாம்.

           ஐயோ அக்கொடியக் குளிரை
           அரசும் மறைத்தே ஆய்வோரிடம்
             பைவ்ஸ்டார் ஹோட்டல் போலிருக்கும்
            என்றே சொல்லி அனுப்பிடுமாம்.
