                      Officership in the Army is certainly built on "Tradition of Soldiering "and many unwritten code of conduct.During training the officer cadets are called "Gentleman Cadets ". Till  you enter the Army training acadamy " one might not have heard the word "Gentleman "

A trainee on admission to the IMA is referred to as a Gentleman Cadet. One reason for this is that the academy expects its graduates to uphold the highest moral and ethical values. Inscribed in the oak panelling at the Eastern entrance of the Chetwode Hall is the academy's credo, excerpted from the speech of Field Marshal Chetwode at the inauguration of the academy in 1932:

The safety, honour and welfare of your country come first, always and every time.

The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command come next.

Your own ease, comfort and safety come last, always and every time.

                 An officer by his conduct  demonstrates that he is patriotic ,intelligent,understands higher commander's intention and can set an example to the posterity.

                          when he went to Antarctica and took over as Leader and station Commander of Indian station 'Dakshin gangotri '"Colonel Ganesan had demonstrated to all arround that a different type of Officer has come.

                        Once  you enter the main hall of Indian station Dakshin gangotri ,you will  feel proud that you have come to an Indian station.This was designed by Col Ganesan and executed by the winter team.

                 India map cut out in ply wood,L E D lights fixed on to the places to which members belong.On the either side of this main board, two small boards are fixed in which all the members name written and electrically connected to their place of birth. when you press the switch in the name of the member,the light will glow from the place in the map. 

              The Rulers of the icy continent are no doubt,are the Penguins.When a penguin visited DG the VIP sofa seat was offered. Lokk at the sofa seat covers.Designed and made at DG by the 5 th winter team.

                    The winter team was to celebrate Birth Day of one of its members.It was happened to be the same day for one of the Russian team leader.So a board was made and written in Russian and english for their birthdays.

                            

                    Even when their living was threatened by snow and cold.their spirit of adventure never came down.They walked up and down in the snow and did their routine happily.
