The Transformation
Born and brought up in total rural background Ganesan grew up to be very active and a jack of all trades.Integrity and patriotism was imbibed into him by reading/ listening to great heroes of this country and of course limited to Tamilnadu only.
The photograph taken in October 1962 will be a proof of his innocence.
when he did not like PWD job and resigned,his resignation was not accepted.Instead he was told about the National Emergency after Chineese attack in Oct-Nov1962 and Army being expanded many folds.State and Central Govt eligible employees were asked to join the Army.
Ganesan's application was processed at SSB Bangalore and he was selected.He was relieved with lien in PWD on 04 oct 1963 and reported to Officer's Training school 09 Oct 1963 for training.
Ganesan as junior Engineer and the lastlandmark work in PWD.
Bring an athelete of his college,the training was very interesting and easy for him.He won cross country competition and obstacle competition during training.This gave him the award of "Atheletic Blue Blazer".He passed out and was commissioned in the CORPS OF ENGINEERS on 03 May 1964.
When Emergency was lifted,he was given the option either to continue or get back to PWD.He opted to continue.
The years of service with troops and regular games and sports brought out the best in him and he turned out to be one of the toughest officer of his times.
He also earned best sportsman in Swimming and Basket ball.
Even when there was no time for games he used to go on long trecking in wilderness or do weight lifting with improvised equipments.
No wonder that his soldiers under his command enjoyed their service.

When he retired in 1994 he did not keep idle at home.He had been touring schools and colleges and giving them motivational and inspiring talks about life in general and Army in particular.
At many places spectators were not believing that he is retired.Fortunetely either due to hereditary or due to his service in Antarctica where darkness prevails for six months he was not having much grey hairs.
With his unique experiences he is rightly placed to demonstrate to the audience that human life is divine gift and any one can extract the best in him which will be usefull to him and to the society.
