The First posting.
The officers training at the Indian Military Acadamy was for 2 years.But due to emergency and fast expansion of the Army it was reduced to about 7 months only.
So though Ganesan has joined OTA only on 09 Oct 1963 he passed out on 03 May 1964 and was commissioned into Corps Of Engineers.After an orientation course at the College Of Military Engineering he was posted to 44 Field Park Company.The company was part of 6 Mountain Division and was located at Pithoragarh inUttarPradesh-Nepal border.Ganesan reported there on 07 September 1964.
6 Mountain division was recently raised after chineese attack and Troops and Equipments were just poring in.It was completely aided by USA.

Complete light vehicles,weapons and winter uniforms came from USA.He was very happy to be in such a formation.
As days passed Ganesan came to know that the Division is commanded by Maj Gen S.K.KURLA.
Gen Kurla was a 2nd world war veteran.He carried great name and fame and was about 6feet and 2or 3 inches tall.He had lead about 85 attacks successfully and was introduced to Field Marshal SLIM as the best company commander in South East Asia.
Ganesan went into the 1965 Indo-Pak war under such a great leadership.In that war 6 Mountain Division was Army Headquarter Reserve.
It is a matter of great honour and pride to be Army HQ reserve.Because it will be launched into war either to enlarge our captured area or to destroy enemy,s strong hold.
The division was launched into SIALKOT sector of J&k and Ganesan happily spent few days in enemy,s land and from there moved to The first and only Engineering University,Roorkee university for advanced training.
