THE  COMMAND.

                       In Armed Forces the word "Commanding officer" signifies  the most prestegious appointment.
Every commissioned officer exitingly looks forward to command the unit in which  he was commissioned .
           Officership in the Army is a mixed group where in officers commissioned through National Defence Academy ,Direct entry,Technical entry,Short service commission entry,Army cadet college entry and Special list officers etc serve together.
              Even in NDA Officers there is pristegious Rashtriya Indian Military College ( RIMC popularly called Rimcolins) entry,sainik school entry military school entry etc.
            A commissioned officer   gets promotion in about 15-16 years service to the rank of Colonel which is the rank of commanding officer of a major unit like a Battalion,Regiment.
             In this scenario Pavadai Ganesan was commissioned as Emergency commission in1964 and was granted Permanent Regular commission in 1965.
                   He was one of the fittest officer,taking Army life as Dolphin in deep sea.He was awarded best sports person in Atheletics,Basketball,and Swimming.He was in high order of merit in all his courses of instruction.
                         He was well disciplined,high integrity and upright in all his dealings.
       He was commissioned in independent 44 Field Park Company in 1964 and was a member of the officers group which formed 4 ENGINEER REGIMENT in 1966 on Re organisation of Engineer Regiments.
         He got the unique distingtion of first COLONEL CommandingOfficer of 4 Engineer Regiment in 1987 (took command in 1984 in the rank of Lt Col and promoted as Colonel in 1987 in situ )
              During the tennure of 3 years he served under 5 Major Generals who were his reporting officers.His unit was directly under a Division,a Core and Command at different times.
               Irrespective of  how the unit is placed  his performance as commanding officer was matchless.
            At one stage his unit was under administrative control of a Sub Area,and operational control of Northern Command.Here he was not yielding to the petty and silly requirements of Sub Area commander and had heated orguements with him occasionally.
                This is the letter he wrote to the Sub Area Commander,

THERE IS  ALWAYS A CONFLIGHT ESPECIALLY IN THE ARMY ABOUT WHAT ONE

WANTS TO DO  AND WHAT  HIS SUPERIOR  WANTS HIM TO DO.

                                 THAT IS THE REASON FOR NOT POSTING THIS LETTER.
